Pictures taken within the Prison walls.
An undated view of the Administration Block on a card published by W. Northmore, Princetown.
A Peacock's "Stylochrom" card showing the main drive inside the Prison. Postally used August 17 1906.
From a collectors point of view, this card is interesting. It is obviously a card struck from the same negative as the one above, yet this one is a Chapman and Sons of Dawlish card. However, Chapman's have not given this card a serial number, which they did on every other card of theirs. I wonder if they took the original photograph or if Peacock's photographer did?
The reverse of this card from an unknown publisher indicates that this picture was taken in early November 1917. Evidently this card is one produced at the time for the conscientious objectors in the Work Centre during WWI.
An undated card by an unknown publisher showing the interior of Dartmoor Prison Church.
A postcard showing what is believed to be the interior of one of the wings at Dartmoor Prison. Perhaps this card dates from the WWI Work Centre period?
